Types of Tickets and Passes

General Fare Ticket          Senior/Disabled Ticket The General Fare and Senior/Persons with Disabilities tickets are sold in bundles of 20 and are valid for a 1(one-way) ride on StaRT Fixed Stop services only. (Not valid on Route 70)

$5 Fast Fare Ticket          $10 Fast Fare Ticket The $5 and $10 Fast Fare can be used on all StaRT services. You cannot reload the card with additional money.

Medivan TicketThe Medivan provides non-emergency public transportation to Bay Area Medical Centers. Advanced Reservations are required.

   $10.00 (one way)
Medivan AssistantWhen accompanying a paying Medivan passenger, an attendant may ride for a discounted fare with a completed attendant application. Advanced reservations are required.

    $3.00 (one way)
 
31 Day PassThe 31-Day Pass is valid for 31 consecutive days from the first day of use for unlimited rides on StaRT Fixed Stop services only. (Not valid on Route 70)

Change CardChange Cards

Exact fare is no longer required! If change is owed after payment of fare, the fare box will issue a change card. Use the amount on the change card toward your fare the next time you ride StaRT.
         
Do not wrinkle, fold or tear your ticket. Do not expose to the sun. Do not write on or laminate your ticket. Damaged tickets will not be replaced and are non-refundable.
Children age five (5) and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult. Two children age 5 and under may ride free for each paid adult fare. Minimum age for a child without adult supervision is nine (9) years old. Children eight (8) and under must be accompanied by someone sixteen (16) years or older.
 Frequently asked Questions regarding Tickets and Passes
Do I Need exact fare?
No, you do not need exact fare. If change is owed after payment of fare, the fare box will issue a change card. Use the amount on the change card toward your fare the next time you ride StaRT.

Can I still use my old tickets?
Yes, However they need to be used as soon as possible.

Can I purchase tickets on the bus?
No, for a complete listing of locations for ticket purchase see the section below.

What do I do if I have questions about my tickets?

Note: When using a check to purchase StaRT ticket books or fare cards at any of the above locations, checks should be made out to the location from where the ticket books or fare cards are being purchased. For example, when buying a ticket book at Turlock City Hall, checks should be made payable to the City of Turlock. This does not apply to the Modesto Transportation Center. Checks written at the Modesto Transportation Center should be made payable to Stanislaus County.
